A BRIEF HISTORY
In 1956, Alvarado started as a designer and fabricator of pedestrian queuing
products and other fixtures for the grocery and retail industry. Those
roots are still evident today, as many of our classic products such as
Alvarado post & rail, four-arm turnstiles, cart bumpers and other products
are still the preferred choice among major retailers.
During the mid-1970’s, while continuing to develop products for
pedestrian queuing and patron flow control, Alvarado began manufacturing
an innovative line of security turnstiles and gates. Designed for easy
integration with access control systems, our rugged waist high and full
height turnstiles quickly set new standards for quality construction, superior
styling and rock-solid reliability.
In the early 1990’s, Alvarado developed a groundbreaking line of
hardware and software solutions for entertainment venues. Beginning
with our first installation major stadium installation in 1993,
our ticket scanning turnstiles and GateLink admission control software
effectively ushered in the era of barcode ticket scanning at major league
sports facilities.
Today, Alvarado continues to innovate. Our ticket scanning turnstile line
includes integrated TFT displays, real-time wireless communication, and
will-call ticket printing integrated into the turnstile. We also offer
state-of-the-art handheld wireless ticket scanning, making computerized
ticket validation a reality for even more venues, large and small.
Alvarado has also recently made one of the largest commitments to R&D
in our company’s history, resulting in our all new Supervisor 3000
barrier arm, Supervisor 3500 barrier wing and Supervisor 2000 barrier-free
optical access control turnstiles. These “security turnstiles of
the future” can
be remotely controlled and monitored via PC-based software. They are already
being installed at numerous facilities in the U.S. and Canada, and are
quickly becoming our most popular product line.
